Lifestyle Questions

Question: Which center is the best for me to attend?

Answer: Each FLS center has a slightly different atmosphere and environment. If you prefer an environment near a large city and many exciting attractions, you may prefer FLS Boston Commons or FLS Southern Nevada College. FLS Citrus College offers a suburban environment with great weather near the attractions of Los Angeles.  If you are looking for a safe, small town feeling and beautiful natural scenery you may prefer FLS Lock Haven University. Finally, students who want to be near the beach and enjoy mild temperatures year-round will like the environment at FLS MiraCosta College.

Question: Will I have a lot of homework? How many hours will I need to study each day?

Answer: Since our program offers an intensive, communicative approach, you will be able to achieve many of your language goals in the classroom. You will have some writing and reading homework, but probably no more than 2-3 hours each day.

Question: Will I be able to enjoy the local attractions?

Answer: FLS sets aside special times for excursions to all of the major attractions in the local area, including amusement parks, beaches, historic sites, shopping centers, museums and more. Most of the excursions are held in the evening or on weekends. The variety and excitement of the attractions will be one of your favorite parts of our program.

Question: Will I be able to meet American students at your Centers?

Answer: Most FLS International Centers are located on college campuses. This means that you will have many opportunities to meet and interact with American students. You will also be able to come into close contact with Americans through your experience in the homestay or dormitory. We encourage all of our students to try to take an active part in campus life. This will increase your chances of meeting Americans.

FLS Boston Commons students may take part in the Conversation Club, a chance to meet and talk with Americans each week.
