Program Questions

Question: When can I begin my program?

Answer: For your convenience, FLS offers starting dates every four weeks.  By beginning on a start date, you will be able to start at the beginning of a new term.  However, you may begin your program on any Monday.

You should try to submit your application at least two weeks before the starting date you desire, or three weeks before the desired date if you require a letter of conditional acceptance. If you are unable to arrive on one of our starting dates, please e-mail our office to inquire further.

Question: How long will I need to study before I go to college?

Answer: The amount of time you will need to study English will vary based on your current English ability, your individual rate of progress and how serious you are about your studies. Many students who enter the program with an intermediate knowledge of English are able to transfer to college after approximately 4-6 months of intensive study.

Question: Can I arrive before my start date?

Answer: You can arrive in the United States up to 30 days before your scheduled start date, if you wish to do some sightseeing, prepare for your program or attend to other personal matters.

However, if you plan to move into your FLS accommodation early, you will need to pay the additional required amount for the extended length of stay.
